Initial impressions upon switching from running to cycling:
- Wow, this is fun!
- Wow, this is really expensive! $50 for shorts, and those are the not-so-good ones?
Eesh. I quickly realized the days of $70 for a pair of shoes that would cover five or six months of running were long gone. So my wife and I jumped in … slowly. And on the cheap. We started scanning eBay for cheap jerseys, for the necessary bits and pieces we knew we needed but didn’t want to pay a LOT of money for.
Slowly, we outfitted ourselves. Now, a few years later, we’re all set. Of course, working for Velo Gear tends to help in that aspect. It’s fair to say there was a pretty extreme amount of kit proliferation in 2010.
